POSITION SUMMARY : The School Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, visitors, and the school community. This is an armed security position requiring a current Oklahoma CLEET Armed Security Guard License. The School Security Officer serves as a visible security presence, helps prevent and respond to safety concerns, monitors school grounds, and works collaboratively with school administrators, staff, emergency responders, and local law enforcement

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain a visible security presence by patrolling assigned school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and school events.

· Monitor entrances, exits, and visitor access while identifying and reporting safety hazards or suspicious activity.

· Conduct routine security checks to help maintain a safe learning environment.

· Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, and security concerns.

· Assist with lockdowns, evacuations, reunification procedures, and other emergency operations.

· Coordinate with school administration, emergency responders, and law enforcement as needed.

· Build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, and visitors.

· Promote a safe and respectful school environment through professional presence, effective communication, and conflict de-escalation.

· Prepare accurate and timely reports for incidents, accidents, injuries, and security concerns.

· Report criminal activity or significant safety issues to school administration and appropriate authorities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Strong observational and situational awareness skills.

· Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

· Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

· Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and emergency responders.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school administration and company leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

· Current Oklahoma CLEET Armed Security Guard License.

· Valid Oklahoma driver's license.

· High school diploma or GED.

· Successful completion of all required background checks and drug screening.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.

PREFERRED:

· Previous security, military, corrections, law enforcement, or emergency response experience.

· Experience working in a school or youth-focused environment.

· CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.

· Training in crisis intervention or de-escalation techniques.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
