Description American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a night shift assignment requiring active IA or compact RN license and prior psych/BH experience across all age groups. Details Inpatient Older Adult Mental Health unit within a hospital setting Treats acute psychiatric patients with major mental health illness, including chronic behaviors such as violence, aggression, mania, and self-harm Experience with all age groups required, including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, with home unit focused on geriatric care Bed size includes 12 geriatric, 12 adolescent, and 24 adult beds Patient ratios up to 1:4-6 depending on unit and shift Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Required to float across all Des Moines campuses to like units and across age groups when needed Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) MOAB or CPI de-escalation certification accepted; can be obtained during onboarding if not already active Minimum 15 months of experience in psych/behavioral health required Minimum 24 months of current psych/behavioral health experience on work history required for consideration Recent or current inpatient psych/BH experience highly preferred Epic EMR experience required Experience with all age groups (adolescent, adult, geriatric) required First-time travelers accepted with at least 12 months of psych/BH experience Driver's license required for consideration Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred Additional Information Provide psychiatric nursing care to patients with major mental health illness and chronic behavioral challenges Scrub color requirement: navy blue, solids Required to work 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed Required to work 1-2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license Past UnityPoint Health FTE or PRN float pool employees are restricted from travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation First-time travelers welcome to apply with minimum required experience These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
