Job Coach – Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

Bronx, NY | Full-Time | 40 Hours Weekly | Temp-to-Perm

$18.00–$21.00 Per Hour | Based on Education

HumanEdge Healthcare Staffing is actively seeking compassionate, motivated, and highly organized Job Coaches to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in securing meaningful employment, developing workplace skills, and achieving greater independence.

This is a full-time, community-based position requiring extensive travel throughout the Bronx. Approximately 90% of the work takes place in the field , supporting individuals at various community employment sites.

This is NOT a traditional 9-to-5 office position.

Compensation – Based on Education

• $18.00/hour – High School Diploma or GED

• $19.00/hour – Associate's Degree

• $20.00/hour – Bachelor's Degree

• $21.00/hour – Master's Degree

Schedule & Availability

Full-Time | 40 Paid Hours Per Week

This position requires flexibility to accommodate the schedules and employment needs of the individuals being supported.

• Shifts may be scheduled between 6:00 AM and 12:00 AM (midnight)

• Most working hours fall between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM

• Early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required

• One-hour unpaid lunch break, excluded from the 40 paid hours

• Schedule may vary depending on participant assignments and community employment locations

Candidates must be comfortable with a flexible schedule and cannot require a strictly 9-to-5 workday.

Location & Travel Requirements

Bronx, New York

• Approximately 90% field-based work

• Frequent travel throughout the Bronx Borough

• Assignments at multiple community employment locations

• Must be comfortable traveling independently between job sites

• Travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with program guidelines

• Bronx residents strongly preferred due to the extensive local travel requirements

Key Responsibilities

Employment Coaching & Vocational Support

• Manage a monthly caseload of approximately 15–25 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

• Provide individualized job coaching and employment support at community-based work sites

• Teach workplace responsibilities through hands-on instruction, modeling, demonstration, and positive reinforcement

• Help individuals develop job readiness, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills

• Support participants in building confidence, independence, and long-term employment success

• Gradually reduce direct coaching as individuals become more independent in their positions

Case Management & Documentation

• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely case notes

• Track participant progress, employment goals, and service outcomes

• Manage multiple participant schedules, assignments, and documentation deadlines

• Maintain organized records in accordance with program requirements

• Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to supervisors and support teams

Community Engagement & Collaboration

• Build positive relationships with employers and community partners

• Work collaboratively with participants, families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary teams

• Provide professional, responsive customer service to employers and program participants

• Assist individuals with travel training and navigating community employment settings when needed

• Help resolve workplace challenges and promote successful employment retention

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Experience in teaching, mentoring, coaching, or providing individualized support

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong customer service and client-facing experience

• Ability to write clear, accurate, and detailed case notes

• Ability to independently manage a caseload of 15–25 individuals monthly

• Comfortable working independently in community settings

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Bronx

• Flexible availability for early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed

• Dependable, professional, patient, and committed to helping others succeed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree highly preferred , particularly in Human Services, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or a related discipline

• Associate's or Master's Degree also considered, with compensation based on educational attainment

• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities

• Previous experience as a Job Coach, Employment Specialist, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Vocational Counselor, Case Manager, or Community Support Specialist

• Familiarity with supported employment services, person-centered planning, and vocational training

• Experience coordinating services and maintaining case documentation

Interview & Selection Process

Qualified candidates will participate in the following process:

1. Initial In-Person Recruiter Interview – Discuss experience, qualifications, schedule flexibility, and ability to travel throughout the Bronx.

2. Hiring Manager Resume Review – Qualified resumes are reviewed for consideration.

3. Final In-Person Interview – Selected candidates meet with the hiring manager for a final interview.
