Noncredit Art Instructor, Older Adults, Part-time Adjunct Pool (Tehachapi) Kern Community College District Salary: $67.00 Hourly Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts Job Number: FY25-2600387 Location: CC - East Kern, Tehachapi, CA Department: Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) Basic Function Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This position offers a starting rate of $67.00 per LHE; the hourly rate may vary based on assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent formula. Representative Duties Provide instruction in a full range of art courses, including teaching at off‑campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs, maintaining subject‑matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, and collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, and either: (A) Thirty hours or two semester units of coursework in understanding the needs of older adults, or (B) One year of professional experience working with older adults. OR, Associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, plus two years of occupational experience related to the subject, and sixty hours or four semester units of coursework in understanding the needs of older adults. Equivalent qualifications may be considered. Candidates should submit an Application for Equivalence form with supporting documents. Masters in fine arts refers to any master’s degree in fine arts including visual studio arts, art education, and art therapy. It does not include the MFA in performing arts, film, or other non‑plastic arts. A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is required. All degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized credential evaluation service.
