Shift PRN as needed, must work at least 2 12s in each 6 week schedule period, rotating holidays and weekends. Integrated Medicine Overview Integrated Medicine is a 24-bed unit that provides a safe environment for medical and surgical patients who also have behavioral needs. This unit takes an innovative approach to serve patients' complex medical and behavioral needs in one thoughtfully designed location. Extensive safety features such as video monitoring technology and anti‑elope­ment measures are integrated to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for our staff, patients, and visitors. RN staff work with Care Team Associates (nurse techs), Milieu Specialists, Therapy Professionals, and dedicated physician staff to provide comprehensive patient care with 4/5:1 RN ratios. Service line supervisors provide 24/7 support to nursing staff. The secure unit has all private rooms, with an open floor plan allowing for patients to socialize and work on community skills with the assistance of our Milieu Specialist. A dedicated Behavioral Health Social Worker assists with meeting the patient's discharge planning needs so that they are able to discharge to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment. Daily interdisciplinary huddles occur to ensure patient care is cohesive and complete. Responsibilities Provide clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient. Assess, intervene, and reassess patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment. Demonstrate an understanding of medication action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educate patients and support persons about medications. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes. Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit. Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e., resident physician, ancillary support teams) and record those observations accurately and concisely. Participate in meetings, in‑services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Complete unit/department‑specific duties as outlined in department documents. Required Qualifications Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi‑state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. One (1) year of RN experience. Preferred Qualifications Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical Demands These physical demands are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. The position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. The position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
