Job Overview Location: Remote, US-based. Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week (Monday‑Thursday, EST business hours). Fridays off. Duration: ~3 months (Start ASAP, ending early to mid‑August 2026). Compensation: $32.00–$38.00 per hour (W2). The role is Freelance Graphic Designer / Senior Communications Specialist, reporting to the Director of Communications. Responsibilities Manage multiple Adobe InDesign projects from initial concept through final production and pre‑press packaging. Create sophisticated layouts for multi‑page publications, case studies, and research reports. Develop original illustrations or use internal photo libraries to produce compelling layouts and associated web assets, applying advanced typography, imagery, and color theory. Lead internal consultation meetings with program leaders to brainstorm requirements, present rough drafts, incorporate feedback, and ensure alignment with brand guidelines. Establish timelines, track project milestones, and balance competing priorities to meet strict deadlines, with several key products due by July31,2026. Complete weekly progress reports using Smartsheet or Excel. Review all files for visual errors before publishing and apply copyediting/proofreading skills to enhance written materials. Qualifications Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Familiarity with Canva, iStock, or SharePoint is a plus. Strong portfolio demonstrating design principles, multi‑page layout composition, typography, and strict brand adherence. Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to pitch design concepts clearly, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and accept constructive feedback gracefully. Solid writing, proofreading, and copyediting skills are highly preferred, along with experience developing creative or technical written materials.
