Group Automation Engineer

Salary: $84,000 - 124,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• We are looking for at least 5 years of experience in industrial robotics, automation integration, and manufacturing operations.
• We need strong hands-on experience with major robotics platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, or similar systems.
• We value experience with collaborative robots and applications involving human-robot interaction.
• We expect proficiency in robot programming, simulation, and troubleshooting within production environments.
• We need a solid understanding of robotics integration with PLCs, sensors, and vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, or equivalent.
• We prefer experience in end-of-arm tooling design and robotic cell optimization.
• We highly prefer familiarity with offline programming, simulation tools, and virtual commissioning.
• We look for knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts, including smart manufacturing, data collection, and connected equipment.
• We need strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support complex automation systems.
• We require the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site manufacturing setting and support shopfloor activities.
• We value strong communication and collaboration skills for working across engineering and operations teams.
• We expect travel of up to 30% for divisional support based on project needs.

• We develop robotic concepts, simulations, and feasibility studies, including cycle time analysis and system design.
• We lead standardization of robotics platforms, programming methods, end-of-arm tooling, and integration approaches across our facilities.
• We create, document, and maintain robotics standards, best practices, and reusable code structures to support consistency and scalability.
• We support automation project development and execution, including design reviews, equipment specifications, and integration needs.
• We provide hands-on support during shopfloor implementation, commissioning, and debugging of robotic systems.
• We program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots and cobots to ensure dependable performance.
• We integrate robotics systems with PLC controls, vision systems, and manufacturing equipment.
• We lead the development and deployment of cobot applications, with a focus on safe and efficient human-robot collaboration.
• We drive continuous improvement efforts to improve cycle time, throughput, quality, and equipment reliability.
• We perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for robotics and automation-related downtime.
• We develop and run proof-of-concept projects for advanced robotics technologies, including AI-enabled robotics, flexible automation, and adaptive systems.
• We identify emerging robotics technologies and help scale successful innovations across multiple plants.
• We collaborate with Automation, Controls, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety teams to support improvements and deployments.
• We provide technical guidance and training to divisional engineering teams on robotic systems, programming, and safety procedures.
• We support digital tools such as offline programming, simulation, and virtual commissioning for robotics applications.
• We ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and corporate requirements for robotic systems.
• We support internal and external audits related to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949, ensuring robotics systems meet quality requirements.
• We support and follow Standard Operating Procedure 8000 for our Quality Management System.
• We identify and implement cost reduction, standardization, and efficiency improvements through robotics technologies.
• We promote a strong safety culture in robotic system design and implementation, ensuring applications meet regulatory and corporate safety standards.
