Safety Specialist – Union Drywall Company Location: Dallas, Texas Affiliation: Local 429 Position Type: Full-Time We are seeking a motivated and experienced Safety Specialist to support and enforce workplace safety standards for a union drywall and interior systems contractor operating throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Safety Specialist will play a critical role in promoting a strong safety culture across multiple commercial construction job sites while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and union safety standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine job site safety inspections and audits on active construction projects Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to reduce workplace injuries and incidents Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, local, and company safety regulations Lead and document toolbox talks, safety meetings, and new hire orientations Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare detailed reports Maintain accurate safety records, reports, certifications, and training documentation Assist project managers and field supervisors in developing site-specific safety plans Monitor PPE usage and enforce safe work practices among field personnel and subcontractors Coordinate and deliver safety training programs including fall protection, scaffold safety, lift operation, silica awareness, and other construction-related topics Support workers’ compensation claims management and return-to-work procedures Stay current on changes to OSHA standards and construction safety best practices Build positive working relationships with union leadership, field employees, and management teams Qualifications Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience preferred Experience in drywall, framing, ceilings, or commercial interior systems strongly preferred OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 500 preferred Knowledge of union construction environments and commercial job site operations Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and travel between job sites throughout the DFW area Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required Preferred Certifications CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) First Aid/CPR Certification Scaffold Competent Person Fall Protection Competent Person Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (if applicable) Health, dental, and vision benefits Retirement and union benefits package Paid holidays and vacation Career advancement opportunities within a growing union contractor About the Company We are a union drywall contractor affiliated with Local 429, specializing in commercial drywall, framing, ceilings, and interior systems throughout North Texas.
