Speech Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Per Diem AVIR at Brownwood 101 Miller Drive Brownwood, TX 76801 Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Residents AVIR at Brownwood is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house rehabilitation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who enjoys working with older adults and collaborating with residents, families, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation professionals to improve communication, swallowing safety, cognitive function, and overall quality of life. Position Responsibilities Evaluate residents' speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs. Develop individualized treatment plans based on each resident's clinical needs, goals, and functional abilities. Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with established treatment plans and applicable standards of care. Treat residents with a variety of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Provide dysphagia assessment and treatment, including recommendations for safe swallowing strategies, diet modifications, positioning, and compensatory techniques as appropriate. Implement therapeutic interventions to improve communication, cognition, memory, problem-solving, and functional participation. Monitor residents' progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate. Educate residents, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding communication strategies, swallowing safety, and recommendations. Collaborate with OTs, COTAs, PTs, PTAs, nursing staff, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Complete evaluations, progress notes, treatment documentation, recertifications, and discharge summaries accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and professional standards. Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care. Qualifications Current Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license in good standing. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through ASHA , or applicable clinical fellowship/licensure status. Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program. Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting is preferred. Experience with dysphagia and adult/geriatric populations is preferred. Compassionate and resident-focused approach to care. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
