This is a role in Long-Term Care providing nursing services.
The facility features 28 beds in private rooms, focusing on short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.
The typical patient census ranges from 23 to 28.
The electronic medical record system is Meditech, which will transition to a new system in June 2024.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 nurse for every 23 to 28 patients during an 8-hour shift.
Required certifications include BLS, and IV certification is not required for LPNs.
Common diagnoses treated include dementia, COPD, CHF, diabetes, and hypertension.
Job duties include conducting initial assessments, medication passing, overseeing certified nursing assistants, performing skin assessments, pain assessments, and admissions.
Wound care and pressure ulcer prevention and treatment are also part of the responsibilities.
The facility utilizes a mechanical total lift system.
This position welcomes first-time travelers.
Nurses are not required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation.
Physicians are available 24/7 for consultations.
An interdisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapy, meets daily.
Pharmacy services are available on-site, utilizing bubble packs.
Shifts are scheduled as follows:
Day shift from 0600 to 1430.
Evening shift from 1415 to 2245.
Night shift from 2230 to 0700.
Nurses may be required to work 4 additional hours if necessary.
Weekend work is required every other week, and nurses may be asked to participate in holiday rotations.
There are no on-call or standby requirements, and there is no floating between units.
Scrubs in any color are permitted.
Orientation consists of a half-day general session followed by 1-2 days of training with an educator and 1-3 days with a designated preceptor on the assigned shift.
Charting is performed using the Meditech system.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
