Job Title: Research Associate – Biology III 

Location: Foster City, CA 94404
Duration: 06+ Month Contract

Pay Rate: $50/hr. on W2

Weekend/off-shift work: Required as needed
Team:  Inflammation In Vivo Pharmacology

Core focus:  Preclinical mouse studies supporting inflammation therapeutics

Key requirement: Hands-on murine/rodent handling and in-vivo dosing

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated  Research Associate – Biology III to join the  Inflammation In Vivo Pharmacology team in Foster City, CA. This position will support preclinical research evaluating novel inflammation therapeutics using  murine/rodent models .

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with laboratory animals and be proficient in mouse handling, restraint, in-vivo dosing, blood collection, animal monitoring, necropsy, tissue collection, and study maintenance. The role requires the ability to execute established study protocols with minimal supervision and maintain accurate experimental documentation.

This is an  onsite laboratory position that may require regular  weekend, early morning, evening, holiday, or other off-shift support depending on study requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support in-vivo pharmacology studies using mouse and other rodent models.
• Perform routine animal handling and restraint procedures.
• Administer compounds using  PO, IV, IP, and SQ/SC dosing routes .
• Perform animal body-weight measurements, food-consumption assessments, and clinical observations.
• Perform in-life and terminal blood collection using appropriate rodent techniques.
• Conduct rodent euthanasia according to approved procedures.
• Assist with anesthesia induction and monitoring when required.
• Perform necropsies and collect tissues and biological fluids for downstream/ex-vivo analysis.
• Support study setup, maintenance, takedown, and sample processing activities.
• Perform basic laboratory techniques, including pipetting, formulation handling, and dose calculations.
• Assemble, operate, and maintain laboratory and experimental equipment required for in-vivo studies.
• Follow approved protocols, animal-care procedures, laboratory requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Accurately document procedures, experimental conditions, observations, results, and deviations in laboratory notebooks or approved electronic systems.
• Collaborate with scientists, technicians, veterinarians, and other cross-functional personnel to complete study objectives.
• Maintain appropriate knowledge of laboratory animal procedures, equipment, supplies, and safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in  Biological Sciences, Biology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Animal Science , or a related field; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Alternatively, an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related program with relevant laboratory animal research experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working with  mice/rodents in a laboratory animal research or preclinical environment .
• Strong proficiency with rodent handling and restraint.
• Hands-on experience with multiple in-vivo dosing routes, including:
• • PO/oral
  • IV/intravenous
  • IP/intraperitoneal
  • SQ/SC/subcutaneous
• Experience with rodent blood collection and/or terminal blood collection.
• Experience with animal body weights, clinical observations, necropsy, and tissue collection.
• Ability to perform laboratory procedures according to established protocols with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of laboratory animal facility or preclinical research experience.
• Experience in  in-vivo pharmacology, PK/PD, toxicology, inflammation, immunology, or oncology models.
• Experience supporting pharmaceutical or biotechnology research.
• Knowledge of USDA regulations, animal welfare requirements, and/or AAALAC guidelines.
• Experience with GraphPad Prism and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with laboratory animal equipment, PPE, biosafety requirements, and animal-care procedures.

Work Environment

The position is performed onsite in a laboratory animal research environment. The role may involve exposure to laboratory animals, animal housing/caging, biological materials, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards.

The selected candidate must be able to work independently and accommodate  weekend, early/late shift, holiday, or other off-hours study support as required .
