About the Position

Job Title: RN - Med Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS Required; Chemo certification and ACLS Preferred Description: We are seeking a Med Surg RN with a focus in oncology care. The unit has 24 beds and a supportive team of 19 staff members. Currently, there are 6 new nurses onboarding this month. During the day shift, the staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, and an admin care technician. Night shifts are staffed with 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses when full. Ideal candidate must have a minimum of 1 year of current hospital acute care oncology RN experience. The patient ratio is 1:5. The unit utilizes Meditech / CPN for electronic medical records. The typical procedures performed include standard med-surg care and chemotherapy administration. Candidates must exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to work as a team. Vital signs are performed every 8 hours, and remote tele patients have vital signs monitored every 4 hours. Chemotherapy can only be administered by chemo-certified nurses. The unit is known for its strong teamwork and quality care provided. Staff often report a positive work environment with a strong support system for new nurses. The facility encourages nurse input in care delivery and utilizes a communication system that allows immediate contact with care team members.
