Classroom Math Teacher
The classroom Math teacher will create a class environment that implements the district articulated curriculum for their content area that provides positive learning experiences for all students, including providing each student with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, healthy, productive, socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential. The teacher will establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members. The teacher will document student progress, set appropriate learning goals, design lesson plans, plan activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of all students; communicate feedback to student's parents and the administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will use assessment results to guide and implement differentiated instructional strategies. The teacher will work collaboratively with staff, attend department meetings, and participate in extracurricular activities where appropriate. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities, including active participation in our Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
Understand and support the educational environment and the District's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. Implement principles of research-based best practices. Facilitate and promote collaborative decision-making and consensus among groups of individuals with diverse interests, values, and needs. Participate as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars that may involve a wide range of issues for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job duties. Recommend solutions to a wide variety of issues for the purpose of addressing the short and long-term needs of the District.
This is not an exhaustive list of all essential duties associated with the job. Prepares teaching materials and reports for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress. Implements district adopted curricula that is appropriate for content area that integrate with the Washington State Learning Standards. Reports incidents of child abuse, altercations, and substance abuse for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to the educational code of ethics and district/school policies. Provides clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students to assure successful learning through the articulated curriculum to achieve district/state student learning standards. Provides on-going assessment and monitors students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectation and goals by using quality classroom-based assessment and/or district/state assessment tools. Establishes and maintains a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive learning environment. Communicates positively and regularly with parents and/or legal guardians including areas of growth, student progress, teacher expectations, developing a meaningful collaboration between home and school. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with staff, administrators, parents, support groups, governmental and community service agencies. Collaborates with paraeducators, volunteers, and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program. Maintains appropriate confidential reports, records, and files in compliance with state/federal law. Demonstrates experience and sensitivity that affirms individuality and diversity. Attends and participates in all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position, including but not limited to on-going professional staff development, weekly PLC meetings and enrichment days. Educates special needs students within the regular classroom environment in collaboration with staff. Provides assistance and guidance to individual students needing intervention to meet standard, as well as students who need enrichment.
May be required to deal with distraught students/parents/staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases.
Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods, and techniques. Knowledge of current state assessments and graduation requirements. Knowledge and implementation of district adopted curricula. Knowledge of procedures/policies in the student referral process. Commitment and ability to work with a full range of students. Skill in classroom management, student discipline, and developing positive techniques for improving student behavior. Skills in organizational techniques. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to effectively integrate technology resources into the curriculum. Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with a variety of students, staff, and community in a multi-cultural, and diverse socio-economic settings. Ability to participate collaboratively in teams. Ability to continue participation in staff development to maintain professional skills. Ability to serve as a role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner. Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations. Collaborative protocols in working with specialized staff.
Bachelor's degree with appropriate educational endorsement. Licenses/Special Requirements Must maintain all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment. Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement per OSPI. Completed employment application and successful background check upon hire.

Required to deal with a wide range of staff expertise; will experience frequent interruptions and the need to remain flexible to meet the needs of others; may deal with angry or distraught people; experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, community and staff; involves sitting, walking and standing; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students; in some positions the necessary and appropriate instructional methods may require specific positions and movements, and sufficient stamina and exertions, to demonstrate techniques properly for the safety of others, or to conduct or direct staff; may teach in a room without telephone communication; will involve attendance at meetings beyond regular business hours periodically.
Work Year: 180 days aligned with the academic school calendar, plus 4 Enrichment Days (August 25, 26, 27, 2026, and February 16, 2027) Paid Hours: 7.5 per day, including 30 minute duty free lunch period Time of Contract Hours: Work day starts 30 minutes before the student bell schedule and concludes 30 minutes after the student day ends at the work location Salary: 2025-26 OEA Salary Schedule A (Includes Base contract and a Professional Responsibility & Enrichment Supplemental Contract (PRESC), at minimum) *Will be paid at 2026-27 rates.
