Job Description

The Plastic Fabricator operates a variety of saws and fabrication tools to cut, assemble, and finish heavy plastic parts according to detailed specifications and blueprints. This role involves precise measurement, safe operation of equipment, and hands-on mechanical work in a fast-paced, physical production environment.

Responsibilities

• Cut and fabricate heavy plastic parts using band saws, table saws, drill presses, and other shop equipment.
• Use hot glue guns, hand tools, and pneumatic power tools to assemble and finish plastic components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions to ensure parts meet required specifications.
• Measure materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools to maintain precise dimensions.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks as needed within the production process.
• Follow defined job duties and production processes to maintain an efficient and organized workflow.
• Lift, move, and position materials and finished parts weighing up to 55+ pounds throughout the shift.
• Support production goals by working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, using hand and power tools in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members to identify where help is needed when the operation becomes busy.

Essential Skills

• High mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.
• Experience operating band saws and table saws in a fabrication or production setting.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and written instructions.
• Capability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 55+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Proficiency using hand tools and pneumatic power tools safely and effectively.
• Basic math skills for measuring materials and verifying dimensions.
• Attention to detail to ensure parts are fabricated to exact specifications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction or farming is a strong plus due to relevant hands-on experience.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and production work.
• Familiarity with electrical assembly or wiring tasks in a light industrial environment.
• Comfort working with heat-related processes and hot materials when required.
• Exposure to welding or MIG welding is beneficial, though not required.
• Ability to follow clear, defined processes and adapt to organized production systems.

Work Environment

The role is based in a new, well-maintained facility that is approximately two years old, characterized by a very clean and organized production floor. The work environment is fast-paced, with temperatures that can be hot in the summer and cooler in the winter. The position is on first shift, running Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Employees regularly use band saws, table saws, drill presses, hot glue guns, hand tools, and pneumatic power tools, and perform frequent lifting of materials up to 55+ pounds. Bluetooth speakers are allowed in the workplace, while headphones are not permitted.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterloo, IA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Waterloo,IA.
