Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with at least 1 prior travel assignment preferred. License: Active IL license required or confirmation that the application process has been initiated. Certifications: Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. Must-Have: Candidates must have the required certifications. General nursing skills are necessary. Proficiency in vasopressor drips and titration is required. SANE RN experience is preferred. Experience working in a teaching hospital is preferred. Description: This position involves providing care to a wide variety of patients, from newborns to the elderly, presenting with various complaints. Nurses will encounter critically ill patients, including those in cardiac arrest, as well as strokes and heart attacks. Level 1 and 2 trauma patients will be cared for by a specialized team in designated trauma bays. Travelers may provide care for trauma patients once they have been stabilized. Nurse-to-patient ratios will vary based on department needs and acuity levels, typically ranging from 1:3 to 1:5. Charge nurses and house supervisors will be present, providing support throughout the shift. ED technicians will assist, and nurses will be expected to draw labs alongside techs. There will be opportunities for block scheduling and requests for time off will be reviewed. Weekend and holiday requirements will apply based on department needs. Nurses may be floated to assist in other units, although this is rare. Scrubs should be tasteful with only solid-colored shirts under scrubs.
