Equal Opportunity Specialist

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity (or their designee), the Specialist responds to and resolves concerns related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related conduct, and provides consultation, programming, education, and outreach to the University community. The Specialist serves students, faculty, and staff at all University campuses. The Specialist serves as a Clery Campus Security Authority.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct intake and complaint/issue evaluation, advising all parties of policy and procedural requirements, resolution options, and/or investigation processes.
• Conduct investigations related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including investigations related to sex- or gender-based harassment.
• Manage concurrent investigations with university and municipal law enforcement agencies.
• Write clear, impartial, accurate investigative reports.
• Assess reports of alleged misconduct to identify and facilitate appropriate and reasonably available interim and supportive measures for parties and witnesses.
• Facilitate informal resolution processes including conflict coaching, facilitated conversations, shuttle diplomacy, mediation, agreed resolution, and restorative justice practice.
• Collaborate with institutional partners and leadership to ensure that formal and informal resolution processes, including investigations, are conducted in compliance with applicable policies, collective bargaining agreements, and requirements of state and federal laws.
• Provide training and education to hearing panelists, supervisors, and others involved in adjudication processes.
• Provide programming, education, and outreach to campus and community partners including presentations, trainings, workshops, and sustained dialogues.
• Provide weekly case management updates to a designated supervisor.
• Prepare reports, executive communications, and/or other materials as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Trainings/Certifications: Title VI and Title IX related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization

Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience conducting investigations of discrimination, harassment, and/or related civil rights matters, and/or otherwise analyzing and applying policy/legal requirements in the remediation of complex complaints and/or the fulfillment of compliance requirements.
