Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk supports daily warehouse and production operations by accurately receiving, storing, and distributing materials, and by preparing outbound shipments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures materials move efficiently through the facility, inventory records remain accurate, and all shipping and receiving activities follow established safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

• Operate lift trucks or hand trucks to move and hoist materials safely to designated departments or storage areas.
• Operate stretch wrap machines and banding equipment to secure pallets and shipments for storage or transport.
• Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments to the appropriate departments or storage locations.
• Inspect incoming materials, reject damaged items, and record any shortages or discrepancies in accordance with company procedures.
• Physically receive raw materials and validate them against supplier packing slips to confirm accuracy of quantities and part numbers.
• Perform the Receipt of Goods process in the companywide ERP software to ensure accurate and timely system updates.
• Execute the put-away process by moving received parts to their designated physical locations and updating inventory records.
• Participate in material kitting activities by gathering and organizing components required for production or assembly orders.
• Prepare outbound shipments by picking, packing, labeling, and staging products according to shipping documentation and schedules.
• Maintain inventory locations, both physically and digitally, to ensure materials are organized, traceable, and easy to locate.
• Keep the work area, warehouse, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Follow prescribed safety regulations and company policies at all times while operating equipment and handling materials.
• Support production, assembly, and sub-assembly operations by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of mechanical, electrical, and wiring components as needed.
• Coordinate with logistics and other internal teams to ensure on-time shipping and receiving of materials and finished goods.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating lift trucks, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to move materials safely within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate stretch wrap machines and banding equipment for securing pallets and shipments.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including unpacking, inspecting, and routing incoming shipments.
• Ability to validate incoming materials against supplier packing slips and document discrepancies.
• Experience using ERP or similar companywide software systems to perform Receipt of Goods and update inventory records.
• Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate physical and digital inventory locations.
• Ability to perform material kitting by organizing and staging components for production or assembly.
• Familiarity with production, assembly, and sub-assembly workflows in a mechanical or electrical manufacturing environment.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical components, including wiring and schematic-driven parts handling.
• Commitment to following safety regulations and maintaining a clean, orderly work area.
• Ability to perform packing, picking, and logistics tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to environments involving mechanical, electrical, and wiring assemblies.
• Experience supporting industries such as semiconductor, HVAC, pharmaceutical, alternative energy, amusement park or theme park, or industrial control markets is beneficial.
• Comfort working within a quality-focused organization that follows UL508A, UL1741, and ISO9001:2000-compliant processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with production, logistics, and warehouse teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and shipments.

Work Environment
The role is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pleasanton, CA, focused on custom controls, power distribution, control panels, and related products. The environment supports production, assembly, sub-assembly, and kitting activities involving mechanical and electrical components, wiring, and schematic-based builds. You will work with warehouse equipment such as lift trucks, hand trucks, stretch wrap machines, and banding tools, and use an ERP system to manage receipts and inventory. The facility operates under UL508A, UL1741, and ISO9001:2000-compliant processes, emphasizing quality, organization, and safety. The work area is expected to remain clean and orderly, and you will follow prescribed safety regulations while handling materials, operating equipment, and supporting logistics and shipping activities.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasanton, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
