Cardiac Sonographer - Full Time

Job Description The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing echocardiographic techniques and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing medical conditions in patients. Responsibilities and Duties Obtain diagnostic echocardiographic recordings or images following established procedures. Perform echocardiography utilizing echo contrast, cardiac ultrasound, and stress echocardiography. Explain procedures to patients and provide instructions; prepare patients for tests, monitor vitals, attach equipment, and prepare diagnostic equipment as necessary. Review patient records for test indication, clinical information, and verify correct orders before initiating testing. Conduct assessments using interview, auscultation, palpation, and document data. Recognize and correct technical problems; identify abnormal pathology; report serious abnormalities to the requesting physician. Refer questions regarding therapy or testing to the Lead Cardiac Sonographer or the requesting physician. Complete documentation for charging and recording of test results. Maintain supplies and equipment, including cleaning and scheduled maintenance. Assist with new procedures created by new technology or responsibilities; study reference material. Education Graduate of a 2–4‑year Allied Health training program required. Experience Two (2) years of training experience in cardiac sonography preferred. Recent graduates of accredited sonography programs are encouraged to apply. Certification & Licensure Requires registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS). BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) – AHA approved required. New hires must have AHA certification prior to completion of orientation. Qualifications Must have the physical, mental and technical skills necessary to perform diagnostic testing of adult cardiovascular patients and be able to communicate with physicians, peers and patients on a professional and technical level.
