Job Title

Job Description: This position involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. It requires performing routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. The role includes monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. It also demands the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls, reporting accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care, performing and documenting preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, identifying and replenishing testing bench supplies as necessary, and assisting with processing of specimens when needed are also part of the job. Maintaining a safe work environment and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment is essential.

Requirements: An associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements is necessary. Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required. State Medical Technician license may be required. ASCP or AMT certification is either preferred or required. Ability to work independently and within a team environment, proficiency with computers, familiarity with laboratory information systems, high level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to pass a standardized color vision screen are also required. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs and the ability to work in Blood Bank with past work experience are essential.
