Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. This role involves providing critical post-operative care to surgical patients across multiple specialties in a fast-paced medical environment. The PACU RN will be responsible for monitoring and assessing patient recovery, administering appropriate interventions, and ensuring safe patient transitions through the perioperative process.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with shifts typically 8 hours long. Schedule may vary based on unit operational needs, with work hours spanning from early morning to late evening (0530-2100).
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a multistate compact license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA), minimum of 2 years PACU RN experience with a strong perianesthesia background preferred, Epic electronic medical record experience preferred, and ability to float to Preoperative, ECT (preoperative/intraoperative/postoperative), and GI Endoscopy units as needed.
• Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric experience with PALS preferred; experience in pediatric patients aged 10 and older is helpful.
• Float: First to float between PreOp, ECT, and Endoscopy units (no ECT or Endo intraoperative assignment).
• Additional Information: The successful candidate must pass an ECG exam on Day 2 of orientation (pass/fail, one attempt). The assignment length is 10 weeks, with orientation support and optional study sessions available prior to start. Candidates should be comfortable with variable start times, on-call rotation, and holiday work. Scrubs are provided, with specific attire requirements based on unit assignment.
