About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. - Must be able to read and interpret telemetry. - Must be willing to care for both MST and PCU patients. - Minimum of 1 year in Medical-Surgical nursing; prefer candidates with experience in telemetry. - May be asked to precept nursing students. Description: The unit consists of 30 beds. Ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include surgical cases such as total hip and knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, and exploratory laparotomy. Medical cases include MRSA, C. diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, and COVID. Telemetry patients, including those with chest pain, are also cared for on this unit. RNs will have access to remote monitor techs, but are required to read telemetry strips themselves. The unit is supported with nurse aides, who typically take 10-15 patients. If no aides are available, RNs will manage 3 patients and provide primary care. Charge RNs will manage 50 inpatient beds shared among multiple units. Shifts are either 0700-1900 or 1930-0730. Every other weekend coverage is required, as well as holiday rotation. There may be a standby rotation during times of low census. RNs may be required to float to a multi-care unit and a pediatric unit. Scrub colors can vary, except for camouflage. Nurses are expected to participate in unit-specific orientation based on their experience. RNs are encouraged to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
