Clinic RN II- McKinney South

Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the McKinney South location in the Medical Oncology department. Typical hours are Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑5 pm. The position requires no weekends, call, or major holidays. What the role involves Under general supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care for patients in line with national and company standards. The RN must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participate in quality initiatives. The RN supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care. Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart. Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart. Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care. Assist patients in locating available community resources. Collaborate inter‑professionally. Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Qualifications Education/Training Level I Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Entry level – 0‑3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred. Level II Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred. Level Senior Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (strongly preferred). Oncology certification preferred. Working Conditions The work environment includes exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic. Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods and occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs.
