Job Description

The General Laborer supports daily kitchen and food preparation operations by organizing food storage areas, maintaining clean and sanitary workstations, and following strict food safety guidelines. This role ensures that ingredients, tools, and surfaces are properly prepared and maintained so the team can work efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Organize food in refrigerators and on shelves to ensure items are stored safely, clearly labeled, and easy to access.
• Label containers with dates and other relevant information to support proper food rotation and freshness.
• Measure out spices and seasonings accurately to support food preparation and maintain consistency.
• Clean workstations thoroughly, including surfaces and preparation areas, to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Wash utensils, cutting boards, and other kitchen tools, ensuring they are properly cleaned and ready for use.
• Follow strict food safety guidelines at all times to prevent cross-contamination and maintain hygiene standards.
• Sweep and mop floors regularly to keep the work area clean and safe.
• Wipe out trash cans, change garbage liners, and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and organize food storage areas to maintain order and support efficient operations.

Essential Skills

• Ability to organize food in refrigerators and on shelves in a safe and orderly manner.
• Ability to accurately label containers with dates to support food safety and inventory control.
• Ability to measure spices and seasonings precisely to support consistent food preparation.
• Experience cleaning workstations, utensils, and cutting boards in accordance with food safety standards.
• Knowledge of and commitment to following strict food safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination.
• Capability to perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.

Work Environment

This role takes place in a busy food preparation and storage environment that includes refrigerators, shelves, workstations, and cleaning areas. You spend most of your time on your feet, moving between storage areas and work surfaces, and regularly performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, washing utensils, and organizing food items. The environment requires adherence to strict food safety and cleanliness standards, with regular handling of cleaning supplies and kitchen tools.

This is a Contract position based out of Princeton, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
