Codes & Standards Manager

The Codes & Standards Manager (CSM) is a member of the HEW Product Engineering & Quality (PE&Q) team. Under the direction of the Director of Codes & Standards, the CSM collaborates with the PE&Q team and with HEW Sales, Technical Services, Innovation/R&D, and Brand teams to assist in managing HEW’s library of code evaluation reports. To succeed, the CSM leverages their knowledge of national and regional building and energy codes, coupled with onsite construction experience and relationships with third‑party certification, testing, and inspection agencies, to ensure that code evaluation reports are developed, maintained, and updated to support HEW’s value‑added product offerings in the marketplace (e.g., AdvanTech and ZIP System sheathing and accessories). Responsibilities Maintain HEW's extensive product evaluation and listing library; acquire new evaluation services reports and listings for both new products and new applications; manage technical revision process when product offerings and/or model building codes change; provide guidance to HEW leadership and various project teams regarding testing and code acceptance strategies for new or modified products, and/or code change impacts; and acquire and maintain local/state product approvals when necessary. Assist HEW Technical Services and Education and Training staff with document reviews, including providing technical and editorial assistance with Technical Tips, marketing and brand collateral, and internal and external education materials. Act as liaison between R&D, Innovation, and Technical Services teams, participating on cross‑functional project teams to develop and evaluate testing and evaluation plans and processes, including working closely with Quality staff to maintain QA programs, QA manuals, and other documentation as required by certification agencies. Develop and maintain a network of technical experts to assist with company knowledge, research, code change activities, and other issues; participate in industry activities and committees related to product evaluation criteria, code change activities, and other regulatory activities; and monitor model code development processes and relevant state/local code amendment processes for potential impactful code changes. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, with experience in the design, testing, and/or application of structural wood panels in residential and multi‑family wood‑frame construction. Experience in code enforcement or engineering, and in building material testing and/or evaluation. Certification/licensing as a code official or design professional preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Location(s) HEW’s corporate office in Charlotte, NC, or its R&D/Innovation Center in Commerce, GA, which both follow a policy of at least four days in the office each week, with an optional day working remotely from a home office. #J-18808-Ljbffr Huber Engineered Woods
