Diesel Technician

Ryder is hiring a Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The position offers weekly pay, benefits, and opportunities for career advancement. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties. Carry out standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections. Execute preventive maintenance, including routine oil changes, brake and tire work. Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer systems when applicable. Identify root causes of basic failures and perform required repairs. Replace defective components as instructed. Carry out facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints. Use shop management systems and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with all safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines. Perform additional support duties as required, such as Service Island support. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred). Proficiencies in basic tools and mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines. Two (2) or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred). Ability to obtain a CDL within six months of hire. Successful completion of a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check, including motor‑vehicle record verification for the prior three years. Benefits & Compensation Hourly pay: $35.28 per hour. Certification bonus up to $700 for new ASE certifications. Quarterly bonus up to $500, paid four times per year. Tool allowance and boot allowance. PPE and uniforms issued. Paid training and state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic equipment. Safety priority as a core value. Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday.
