About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac/vascular experience Description: The position requires working on a cardiac stepdown unit. The unit has 32 beds, all private, with a mix of stepdown and floor patients. The stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 RN to 3 patients. The floor nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 RN to 6 patients. Common diagnoses include cardiac surgery post-op patients such as CABG, valve replacements, and heart transplants. Also included are vascular surgery post-op cases and cardiology patients. Nurses will be required to titrate drips, including Heparin, amiodarone, and Lasix. There are Clinical Associates to support the RNs on the unit. Monitor Techs are available, and RNs will read EKG strips. The position requires working every other weekend and on holidays as scheduled. Solid royal blue and white dress code applies. Unit orientation of 2-3 shifts is provided. The work environment emphasizes teamwork and quality care for patients. The charting system in use is EPIC.
