Custodian

Job Overview The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. Roles & Responsibilities Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule Perform janitorial duties Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste Operate motorized cleaning equipment Maintain daily upkeep of the assigned area Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures Stop at risk behavior of others and self Work collaboratively with other employees as part of a team Perform repetitive tasks as required Maintain a clean work area Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules Take direction and respond to supervision Communicate professionally with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers Fill in during staff shortages Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items Use proper personal protective equipment Present a professional appearance and conduct Understand customer service and satisfaction Understand reporting systems and the environment Qualifications No specific education requirement; 3–6 months of training or experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid driver’s license may be required; completed safety and task training certification required; forklift certification may be required Bilingual a plus Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share knowledge with team Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands & Work Environment The job requires the employee to sit and talk or listen frequently, lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and meet other physical demands as described.
