Quality Auditor

We provide full‑spectrum outsourced asset damage‑prevention and mitigation services on behalf of utility companies across Illinois, Indiana (operational headquarters), Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. Job Summary An experienced technician who performs Quality Audits on completed Locating Tickets and is responsible for a variety of tasks related to utility protection for a variety of utility clients. The Watch and Protect technician will oversee contractors digging on and around utility facilities, monitor excavations, and help prevent damage to critical infrastructure. Responsibilities Perform Quality Audits On‑site audits of completed work, inspecting locate marks and marking standards for accuracy. E‑Sketch documentation. Billing and status codes used. Screen capture and photo documentation review. Scope of the tickets’ work area completed, focusing on accuracy and marking standards. Communicate any serious concerns to the supervisor immediately and address them onsite. Watch & Protect Compare real‑world conditions to record documentation to identify errors and omissions. Verify location of all client facilities within specified dig extents. Monitor and provide surveillance of critical infrastructure where excavations are or will be taking place. Contact excavators and schedule monitoring of critical excavations. Protect client facilities within a given area as directed by the client. Locate and mark underground facilities using industry tools, standards, and methods. Perform ticket audits to ensure locators are accurately locating facilities and following proper marking procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED certificate. Minimum 2 years of experience in the locating industry. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to read and interpret prints at a high level. Multiple years of locating and pipeline technician experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work smoothly with citizens, company, contractor representatives, and customers. Good organizational skills to handle many varied tasks at once. Knowledge and understanding of safe worksite practices. Experience with construction and installation of below‑grade infrastructure and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipment. Working within and utilizing existing utility standard designs. Experience with complex urban underground utility infrastructure and serving as firm/client liaison. Experience reviewing design drawings created by others. Must complete a background check with no violations within the last 5 years. Must take and pass a DOT drug test. Physical Requirements Capable of moving around on construction work sites, public streets, and parkways. Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periods. Hand‑eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating, and testing instruments. Work safely outside in all weather conditions year‑round. Occasionally work in excavation areas and roadways. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Job Type Full‑time (Hourly). Pay varies based on experience.
