Registered Nurse 1 (RN1)

The Registered Nurse 1 (RN1) ensures the medical/nursing needs of our individuals living at Old Farms and Hillis Terrace IRAS and will be based out of Old Farms IRA. Old Farms IRA which currently accommodates five individuals with various medical and behavioral needs. Hillis Terrace similarly serves five individuals with diverse medical and behavioral requirements. Key responsibilities include reviewing patient records, processing incident reports when necessary, and collaborating with oversight and provider agencies concerning documentation, procedures, and follow-up actions. The RN 1 will engage in a range of patient care activities, including assessing health issues, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining comprehensive medical documentation. Additionally, the RN will administer care and provide guidance to patients regarding health maintenance and disease prevention. The RN 1 is also expected to achieve and maintain proficiency in all essential administrative processes to effectively fulfill their responsibilities. The RN 1 will distribute time across both locations and will also provide nursing coverage at other facilities on the team as needed. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensures compliance with the Taconic DDSOO Policy/Procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Completion of nursing procedures/tasks and nursing assessments
• Provides nursing care oversight, charts health status, transcribes physicians' orders accurately, and ensures appropriate medication orders and follow up appointments are communicated within the IRA.
• Serves as a member of the inter-disciplinary team.
• Provides clinical supervision to LPN's as well as nursing guidance to the Direct Support staff.
• Act as health liaison with medical consultants
• Attend team reviews and present information as needed.
• Provide health training to individuals, staff, and family.
• Complete all required training.

Must have a license and a current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.
