Maintenance Technician I

Machine Maintenance TechnicianEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Diagnose and perform machine repairs from simple to complex (i.e. CNC Machines, EDM's and Molded Presses).Perform troubleshooting working with OEM Technicians.Maintenance repairs as needed primarily mechanical and plumbing.Perform basic building repair and maintenance (i.e. HVAC units and exhaust units).Maintain various chemicals for WWT process including caustic soda, de-foamer, water clarification agent, polymer, and release of acid/metals holding tank.Performs water sampling for MMSDWith safety personnel, proactively address safety issues, including door switches, trip devices, light curtains, guarding, etc.Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas.Remove and replace worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.Run and/or drop air lines and dust collection pipes where needed as directed by supervisorGrease, vacuum, clean and wash machines and necessary machine parts to ensure safe and continual production.Assist R&D with projectsMaintenance repairs as needed primarily mechanical and plumbingFill out manifest forms (F006) for pick upLabel hazardous waste containersPerform other duties and/or functions as assigned or required to ensure Department/Company success.Opening and closing of building on an as needed basisResponding to alarm events (both during work hours and off hours) on an as needed basisAble to work overtime on weekends, holidays as needed.Maintenance of dust collecting system (filter change).Oversee facility building grounds throughout all seasons such as (snow removal, sidewalks/entry ways, salting; maintaining overall appearance of outside of building)Engage with city inspector as needed on facility compliance inspections and address any findings or violationsCompetenciesAttendance/PunctualityContinuous ImprovementHonestyQuality of WorkSafety & SecurityHousekeeping and OrganizationTeamworkInitiativeProblem SolvingLeadershipQualificationsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies (see Competency Dictionary for specific behaviors):Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentIndustrial maintenance diploma/certification or similar technical coursework preferredTwo to five years of related facility maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferredKnowledge of machine codes and manuals, specifications, and standardsValid driver's licenseRead and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsWrite routine reports and correspondenceStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and utilize technical informationRead and understand shop orders, specifications and blueprintsRead and utilize inspection and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, protractors, ruler)Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Mathematical SkillsBasic math skills and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer SkillsPreventive Maintenance Software, ManagerPro Plus preferred.Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Visual Manufacturing)Other Skills and AbilitiesOther QualificationsPrevious knowledge of carbon productsPrevious knowledge of set up experienceMinimum Intermediate level in lockout/tag out proceduresWear protective clothing as neededPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
