Respiratory Therapist Location: Baystate Noble - Westfield, MA Department: Respiratory Therapy Schedule: Part Time Shift: Nights Sign on bonus eligible! Resume required with application Summary Respiratory Therapist perform under the general supervision of a physician, and their responsibilities always encompass evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders that affect breathing. Clinical areas including Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal population Respiratory therapists perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and respiratory therapy treatments designed to treat patients with deficiencies and dysfunctions of the cardiopulmonary system. Cardiopulmonary evaluation involves acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting data that is obtained from diagnostic tests and specimens. Requirements Independently conducts performance and collection of diagnostic information: Pulmonary function testing Interventional diagnostics Sleep studies Noninvasive and invasive diagnostic procedures Blood gas and other pertinent laboratory analysis Application of therapeutics to respiratory care: Medical gas therapy Humidity therapy Aerosol therapy Artificial airway management, and care Airway clearance Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation Vascular catheter insertion, management, and care Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Patient assessment including physical examination and diagnostic data interpretation Assessment of therapies Make changes to patient therapy as indicated by patient response or lab results. Make patient rounds regularly. Observe patient, check equipment, change/make adjustments as necessary. Make recommendations regarding patient’s therapy to physician. Discontinue therapy as ordered. Remove equipment from patient rooms, disassemble, and follow infection control cleaning guidelines. Perform oxygen rounds, and titrate as indicated Disease management of acute and chronic diseases Collaborative support of hemodynamics Discharge planning and case management Provision of emergency, acute, critical, and post-acute care, including: Patient and environmental assessment Therapeutic interventions Patient land and air transport Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Respond to all Rapid Response/Code Blue, and provide applicable care. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Call for maintenance and repair of equipment (in-house). Alert supervisor to malfunction of equipment. Document maintenance/repair. Precepting new staff as directed; including Respiratory Therapy and Resident Nurse students as required. Meet additional AHA certifications as determined by service location. Facilities with an Obstetrics Department require a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Meets and maintains clinical ladder requirements of a level II Respiratory Therapist Experience 1 year of clinical experience Education Associates of Science (Required), Bachelor of Science Certifications Basic Life Support - American Heart Association American Heart Association American Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist - State of Massachusetts State of Massachusetts State of Massachusetts, Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory Care The National Board for Respiratory Care The National Board for Respiratory Care Compensation Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system.
