Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment, Night shift, 36 hours per week, every other weekend, every other holiday

Highlights:

• High-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 2,000 annual deliveries
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for optimal care delivery across all shifts
• Experience both low-risk (including certified nurse midwife populations) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
• Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Cross-training opportunities to Mother/Baby unit and NICU feeder/grower population
• Modern facility with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and Fetal Monitoring
• Epic charting system experience required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Skills in antepartum care, circulating for C-sections, neonatal resuscitation, triage of obstetrical patients, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• BSN preferred

Additional Information:

• 36 hours of paid orientation provided
• Up to 40 hours of requested time off available per contract (must be disclosed at submission)
• Floating to Mother/Baby and NICU (feeder/growers) required within scope of practice
• Approximately 6-7 weekend shifts per 13-week contract
• Daily census averages 10 patients across 12 beds in a 14-room unit
