Primary Responsibilities Assist in determining the suitability of donors. Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality. Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions. Monitor donor and equipment to ensure the health of donors and quality of product. Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines. Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment. Occupational Demands (Form # 74) Work is performed in a plasma center. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32 °F while working in a plasma freezer. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold‑gear. Work is performed standing for 6 to 8 hours per day, bending and twisting the neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day, frequent hand and foot movements, occasional squatting, crouching, or sitting on heels, and sums up to 6–8 hours of walking. Light lifting up to 15 lbs, maximum 50 lbs. Requires precise coordinated movements of fingers and hands. Requires hearing acuity, color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable to 20/30 and 20/100 in the other eye, ability to comprehend and follow instructions, and ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups. Compensation and Benefits The estimated pay scale for the Phlebotomist role based in Wood River, IL is $18.50 per hour . The position is eligible to participate in up to 4 % of the company bonus pool. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, up to 5 % 401(k) match, and tuition reimbursement. Final compensation packages depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, location, internal equity, and market data.
