School Nurse

School Nurse PositionSt. Michael's Prep is looking for a school nurse to serve as the health and wellness expert for our school. This position serves approximately 550 students in grades PreK-8th grade on the lower campus and approximately 450 students in grades 9-12 on the upper campus. This is a full-time exempt position working alongside our nursing staff, working 10 months of the year.Candidates must:Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school dayHave experience with diabetic children and their daily health care needsHave experience with managing other unique school-age medical conditionsHave experience with managing a peanut "aware" environmentProvide health information and in-service programs on health topics to students, parents, and facultyManage school health records in accordance with the State of Texas, as well as the Diocese of Austin requirementsMaintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditionsInitiate contact with, and act as a liaison between, home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school communityMaintain electronic health records within the school website system. (Experience with cloud based electronic student health record and compliance software)Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, staff, and school families to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of the studentsAid in the development and maintenance of school health policiesCoordinate student health curriculum with physical education departmentMultitask and manage well the simultaneous needs of diabetic students and medication or first aid administration to other studentsProvide medical oversight and first aid care during occasional off-campus retreats and after-school programsCandidates should have:Knowledge of children's intellectual, social, emotional, and physical developmentBe excellent communicators, possessing outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal skills, both with children and adultsCare, good judgment and confidentiality in working with students and parentsStrong organizational skillsQualifications:Registered Nurse (RN) licensure-Current in the State of TexasCurrent First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificationMinimum of two years' professional nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric settingApplication Requirements: Qualified candidates should complete an online application for employment and attach a cover letter and résumé.
