Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides specialized perioperative care to patients during surgical procedures. The role involves coordination, patient safety, and adherence to sterile protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Administer preoperative and intraoperative patient care, ensuring safety and compliance with sterile techniques.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during various surgical procedures, including general, gynecological, orthopedic, and plastic surgeries.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond to intraoperative changes promptly.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, specimen labeling, and patient records following hospital protocols.
• Adhere to facility's safety protocols, including Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow and patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1-2 years of surgical nursing experience.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Experience working in OR settings with Ambulatory, General, Endo/Laparoscopic, Gyn, Ortho, Plastics, Bariatric, and Gynecological procedures preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends, with flexibility for a block schedule.
• Must have or be able to obtain a New Mexico nursing license.
• Capable of passing required certifications, including EKG testing.
