About the Opportunity

A privately held commercial real estate owner-operator in the West Palm Beach area is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations for a portfolio of retail and office properties. This role will lead property accounting, investor reporting, and staff development while ensuring accurate and timely financial results.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee property accounting, general ledger, monthly close, and financial statements.
• Manage NNN lease accounting, CAM reconciliations, tenant recoveries, and operating expense allocations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for ownership and investors.
• Oversee budgeting, variance analysis, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Partner with property management and senior leadership to improve financial reporting and accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including commercial real estate property accounting.
• Strong knowledge of NNN leases, CAM reconciliations, and tenant recoveries.
• Experience with financial statements, investor reporting, and multi-property accounting.
• Demonstrated leadership and staff development experience.
• Proficiency in Excel and commercial real estate accounting systems.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
