About the Role

Apple FCU's public website is the credit union's highest-traffic, highest-stakes member touchpoint — where members and prospective members research rates, compare products, and start applications. The Web Content Strategist owns the words, structure, and organization of that experience: writing and maintaining content in Umbraco CMS that is clear, on-brand, and optimized to perform in both traditional search (SEO) and AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews (AEO).

This role sits at the intersection of financial marketing, content strategy, and technical SEO/AEO practice. You'll work closely with Compliance to keep disclosures accurate, with the Umbraco development team on content architecture and structured data, and with Marketing leadership to make sure the site reflects Apple FCU's brand voice while performing measurably better in search and AI-driven discovery.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

• Write, edit, and publish web content in Umbraco CMS across product pages, rate pages, articles, and landing pages, maintaining Apple FCU's brand voice and visual standards
• Maintain a consistent publishing cadence and content calendar in coordination with Marketing campaigns and product launches
• Collaboration with quarterly reviewers/department heads to coordinate content reviews and product objectives.
• Ensure all product, rate, and disclosure content is accurate, current, and reviewed for regulatory compliance before publishing

SEO & AEO Optimization

• Structure and rewrite priority pages (rate pages, loan and account comparisons, eligibility content) in clear Q&A and comparison formats optimized for extraction by AI answer engines
• Apply on-page SEO best practices — metadata, header structure, internal linking, keyword strategy — across all new and existing content
• Implement and maintain structured data (schema.org markup: Organization, FAQPage, FinancialProduct/LoanOrCredit) across content types
• Monitor Apple FCU's presence and accuracy in AI-generated answers to common member questions, flagging gaps or misrepresentations

Performance & Collaboration

• Use Data Studio, PowerBI and web analytics to track content performance and identify pages that need revision or expansion
• Maintain site compliance to keep loan, rate, and account content aligned with NCUA and regulatory disclosure requirements
• Support accessibility efforts by writing and structuring content to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards
• Work with the broader Marketing team to align website content with SFMC email journeys and campaign messaging
• Accountable to department heads and teams business objectives
• Managing routine interactions with department representatives (qtrly review)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience in web content writing, digital content strategy, or content marketing, ideally in financial services, banking, or another regulated industry
• Hands-on experience with a CMS platform (Umbraco strongly preferred; experience with a comparable structured CMS will be considered)
• Demonstrated understanding of SEO fundamentals: on-page optimization, metadata, internal linking, and keyword research
• Excellent, precise writing and editing skills, with the ability to make technical/financial information clear and member-friendly
• Comfort working within a compliance-reviewed content process and regulatory disclosure requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and how AI answer engines surface and cite web content
• Familiarity with schema.org structured data and how it's implemented within a CMS
• Experience with Google Analytics/Looker Studio, Google Search Console, or comparable web analytics and reporting tools
• Experience writing for or working within a credit union, bank, or other financial institution
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards for web content
• Experience with marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC)

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role based out of Apple FCU's Fairfax, VA headquarters, with regular in-person collaboration with Marketing, Compliance, and the Digital/IT team. Standard office environment; occasional attendance at branch events or Marketing team functions may be required.
