MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN I - STIPEND (NON-COMPETITIVE)

Responsibilities Interview clients and/or their family members to gather mental health history, social, economic, and medical information. Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop individualized treatment and recovery plans. Provide crisis intervention, case management, referrals, and related mental‑health services. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, discuss treatment approaches, and prepare progress reports. Design and implement individual and group treatment plans to address mental, emotional, and family disorders. Deliver ongoing clinical assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic services for clients and families, including targeted case management and family therapy where appropriate. Coordinate continuity of care and other treatment services with caseworkers, probation officers, healthcare workers, and community resources. Act as liaison and consultant to schools, organizations, parents, and children on client concerns, and serve on committees or boards as needed. Provide mental‑health treatment in schools and community settings to support children’s interpersonal relationships and academic performance. Conduct outreach and community‑based service provision. Qualifications Approved LACDMH stipend awardee. Licensed or pre‑licensed credentials: Pre‑Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s or doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or related fields. Pre‑Licensed Clinical Counselor with a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or psychotherapy, meeting California’s Business and Professional Code requirements. Registered MAFT interns or APC interns who are on track to obtain full licensure within six years of appointment. Valid and active registration number (Associate MFT or Associate CPC) and an active California Class C driver’s license or another acceptable means of transportation for essential duties. Completion of required education or professional training within the specified timeframes and availability to provide documentation upon request. Physical Class II – Light: Positions involve administrative and clerical duties requiring light physical effort, including occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, or squatting.
