CDL Driver - Garland, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

Drive finished product, inspect load in trailer, verity count, operate semi-truck. Working hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00AM - 3:30PM.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

\u2022 Frequently sitting for extended periods of time

\u2022 Safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer to deliver finished products to customers

\u2022 Load or assist in loading finished product in trailer

\u2022 Unload or assist in unloading finished product from trailer with a forklift, hand truck, or by hand

\u2022 Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving

\u2022 Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers

\u2022 Operate semi-truck with trailer according to state laws

\u2022 Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations

\u2022 Chock rear wheels of truck or trailer before loading or unloading takes place

\u2022 Remove chocks before driving away from loading/unloading destination

\u2022 Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office

\u2022 Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner

\u2022 Remove empty pallets from trailer and place in proper storage location

\u2022 Perform daily services such as - checking the oil level, water level, fuel, and air in tires

\u2022 Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately

\u2022 Assist in keeping the shipping warehouse and outside dock area clean and organized.

\u2022 Clean assigned vehicle daily

\u2022 Accurately maintain required driver\u2019s logs and other appropriate

\u2022 Department of Transportation paperwork

\u2022 Use proper lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending techniques.

\u2022 Perform each task in a manner which prevents bodily injury, equipment, and product damage

\u2022 Observe all safety and health guidelines

\u2022 Other duties may be assigned by supervision

\u2022 Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SWR employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.

\u2022 Must be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

\u2022 High school diploma or G.E.D. is strongly preferred

\u2022 Speak, read, and comprehend English

\u2022 Write legibly in English

\u2022 Good physical condition, i.e. able to lift 25-50# on a consistent basis

\u2022 Must have a valid CDL license for the state applied

\u2022 Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements

\u2022 Must pass substance abuse screening according to company policy

\u2022 Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To successfully perform the essential functions of this role it requires the ability to: stand occasionally, walk frequently, frequent use of hands (reach with hands and arms), view computer monitor, use telephone, speak and listen frequently. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will encounter noise level typical of that of an office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic.
