Program Coordinator

BACKGROUND: STEM Paths Innovation Network (SPIN) is a nonprofit offering K-12 instruction, mentoring and program development in science, technology, engineering, math and art. Our mission is to create equity and opportunities for youth to succeed in science, technology, arts and math one student at a time. SPIN leverages innovative technology to deliver classes in robotics, game development, basic electronics, art/modeling, and other services with the goal of helping youth visualize careers in STEM based fields. SPIN Forward Program: SPIN Forward is a four-year, cohort-based STEM program for 6th-10th girls and gender-expansive youth of color in King County. Students participate in events throughout the school year and a Capstone Presentation. Students are paired with female mentors working in or studying STEM fields.RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Site Coordination (90%): Ensure smooth coordination for field days, lab days and events across cohortsCoordinate and implement logistics including food, equipment, supplies, space, and other matters for SPIN Forward events across cohortsSupport cohort leads by gathering supplies, making purchases, and prepping prior to eventsManage inventory list, assist with packing, transport, and unpacking of materialsAttend additional SPIN/SPIN Forward meetings as neededYouth and Family Engagement (10%): Ensure families feel connected and committed to SPINSupport and sustain 10th grade cohort connections and relationshipsDistribute logistical information about upcoming events to cohort leads via Slack or email to share with their specific cohort students and families, follow up when neededCreate RSVP on Google Forms for upcoming eventsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working directly with youth in a program, educational, or community setting and supporting or coordinating events and activitiesDemonstrates sound judgment and knows when to seek guidanceAbility to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.Comfortable with technology and openness to learning.Outstanding problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.Commitment to providing girls and BIPOC students with equitable education opportunities.High level of flexibility and adaptability to meet changing work goals and demands.Ability to travel to program sites across King County.High school diploma or equivalentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Knowledge of and experience with college and career readiness, particularly in STEM fieldsValid drivers license and automobile insurance.Experience working with low-income students, including but not limited to Title 1 schools, and a familiarity with the unique gifts and needs of this population.Multilingual, specifically in Spanish or Somali.APPROACHManages volume of work with efficiency: Able to actively use organization-wide systems for implementing and following through on tasks and responsibilities.
