General Accountant

divh2Accountant Position/h2pThe Ilitch Companies Foundation and Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club are seeking an accountant to join our not-for-profit team who is passionate about making a difference while leveraging their accounting skills. The accountant will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day financial activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. Responsibilities include processing daily transactions, performing month-end close procedures and preparing monthly financial statements. Additionally, this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist in a variety of special projects. The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles./ppKey Responsibilities:/pulliRecord and reconcile daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, cash receipts, and accounts receivable, building positive relationships with vendors and team managers./liliResponsible for entering and verifying payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts./liliDetermine outstanding accounts receivable balances, collect, and perform accounts receivable functions./liliPrepare balance sheet reconciliations and adjusting journal entries as part of the month-end close process./liliPrepare financial statements for month-end closing. As well as aid with the budget to actual variance analysis to prepare commentary on financial statements./liliCollaborate with internal stakeholders to address accounting related inquiries and provide support for decision-making needs./liliEnsure compliance with internal control policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance./liliMaintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for reference and compliance purposes./liliIdentify and implement process improvements with innovation, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness organizationally./liliWork with the Accounting team to provide a clean and timely year-end reporting package to the tax department./liliCollaborate with department heads for the creation of annual budgets as well as continuous projections as needed./liliWork in partnership with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit requests./liliAssist with various financial special projects as needed./liliEnsure compliance with relevant complex accounting standards, laws, and regulations./li/ulpRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:/pulliBachelors degree in accounting./liliMinimum three (3) years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility in a nonprofit setting. Strong accounting skills and an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application to business./liliEvidence of highly developed verbal, written, and presentation communication skills./liliAbility to manage several complex projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities./liliProven ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of colleagues./liliA proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues./liliDetail oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in financial reporting./liliStrong computer skills with the ability to effectively navigate and utilize computer programs and applications essential to job duties.
