Environmental Health Specialist - Continuous Improvement Dept

Responsibilities The EHS will submit monthly reports summarizing all environmental health service activities to the supervisor and Chief Executive Officer of Wind River Family and Community Health Care (WRFCHC). The EHS will complete survey reports on all facilities listed in the Indian Health Service Environmental Health Reporting System (WebEHRS), in accordance with current IHS Guidelines. The EHS will educate communities on environmental health issues. The EHS will perform a variety of functions in the environmental health field, including providing technical assistance, conducting inspections or surveys, and responding to illness outbreaks and food recalls. The EHS will plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive environmental health program on the Wind River Reservation that emphasizes safe water, food protection, occupational health and safety, vector control, community injury prevention, healthy homes, and institutional health. The EHS will build tribal capacity to manage environmental health hazards by assisting with the development of environmental health and occupational safety policies, procedures, regulations, employee training programs, and public education materials. The EHS will serve as a technical consultant to tribal program managers and leaders, assisting them with environmental health hazard identification and mitigation. The EHS will utilize epidemiological and infection control investigations to identify environmental factors with the potential for disease transmission. The EHS will serve as the Community Injury Prevention facilitator for the Wind River Reservation, assisting the Northern Arapaho Tribe in developing an interdisciplinary and epidemiological approach to reduce injuries. Under the guidance of medical staff, the EHS will advise the public on preventive health and safety precautions during potential environmental health threats. The EHS will manage the WRFCHC integrated pest management approach to reduce populations of disease vectors and public health pests. The EHS will provide oversight to the WRFCHC animal control operation to minimize zoonotic disease and animal bites, and promote community education to vaccinate animals and spay/neuter pets. The EHS will complete probationary and yearly evaluations for animal control staff in accordance with WRFCHC policy. The EHS will supervise animal control staff, including training and issuing disciplinary action in accordance with WRFCHC policy.
