Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician (Cath Lab Tech)

The Cath Lab Technician is a specialized healthcare professional who assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care in high-pressure environments. Key Responsibilities Assist cardiologists during procedures. Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment. Operate and troubleshoot specialized cath lab equipment (e.g., imaging systems, monitors). Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural data. Administer contrast media and medications under physician supervision. Prepare pateints for procedures (e.g., cleaning, shaving, anesthetizing insertion sites). Provide post-procedure care and patient education. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technolgy or related field. Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred. Current BLS and ACLS certifications. 1-3 years of experience in a catheterization lab or similar clinical setting. Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Proficiency in EHR systems and medical instrumentation. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity for handling instruments.
