The team partners with families to support whole‑body health for pets in the comfort of their homes, drawing on both Western veterinary medicine and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) when appropriate ( optional ). Angel Pets prioritizes minimizing stress, nurturing both body and mind, and honoring the importance of each pet’s final chapter. The practice is staffed by a passionate, dedicated team available 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Their goal is to ensure that families feel supported and never alone while making end‑of‑life care decisions for their pets. Role Description This is a full‑time hybrid Veterinarian role based in Fairfax, VA, with some work‑from‑home flexibility for telehealth consultations, follow‑ups, and administrative tasks. The Veterinarian will conduct in‑home quality‑of‑life assessments and pain evaluations, develop individualized hospice care plans, and perform compassionate euthanasia with emphasis on client support and clear communication. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing medical histories, coordinating care with other veterinary providers and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves educating families on treatment options, home care strategies, and end‑of‑life decisions, while collaborating closely with the hospice care team to provide consistent, high‑quality service. Qualifications Licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) in Virginia, with good standing and eligibility to maintain DEA license. Clinical skills in general small‑animal practice, pain management, palliative care, and end‑of‑life medicine; experience in hospice care is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide clear medical explanations, active listening, and empathetic support to families during difficult conversations. Comfort with in‑home visits, safe animal handling, and independent decision‑making in a field‑based environment; reliable transportation required for house calls. Solid organizational and time‑management abilities, including accurate medical record‑keeping, use of practice management software, and coordination of schedules across in‑person and remote work. Ability to work some weekend days and holidays as part of a rotating schedule to support families year‑round; resilience and healthy coping strategies for emotionally challenging situations.
