Senior Specialist I, EHS

As a Senior Specialist I, EHS you will report to the US Region EHS Lead and support the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs for ASM's Service organization at an assigned site and associated customer locations. You will work closely with Field Service Engineers (FSEs), site leadership, customers, and EHS professionals to ensure service activities are conducted safely, compliantly, and in accordance with ASM requirements. This role serves as the local EHS resource for service operations, helping to implement corporate and regional safety programs, support regulatory compliance, conduct field safety activities, facilitate training, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement. The position requires a strong field presence and regular interaction with employees and customers to promote a proactive safety culture. The Senior EHS Specialist is an individual contributor role focused on execution, implementation, and operational support, focusing on effective site-level leadership, implementation and continuous improvement of established EHS programs. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field preferred. 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety within manufacturing, semiconductor, high-technology, field service, facilities, or related industries. Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations. Experience working in semiconductor fabs, cleanroom environments, laboratories, or other high-tech manufacturing facilities preferred. Experience supporting field service personnel, contractors, or customer-facing operations preferred. OSHA 511, ASP, CSP or other EHS certification preferred. Leadership Partnership & Safety Culture Develop and maintain strong working relationships with site leadership to support the integration of EHS expectations into daily service operations. Partner with Service Managers and site leadership to identify safety risks, review performance trends, and develop practical risk reduction strategies. Participate in site operational reviews, staff meetings, and leadership discussions to provide EHS guidance and support informed decision-making. Regularly communicate EHS performance, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and improvement opportunities to site leadership. Support site leaders in fostering a positive safety culture through employee engagement, visible leadership activities, and proactive safety conversations. Collaborate with site management to establish and track site-specific EHS objectives, action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide coaching and consultation to supervisors and managers on EHS responsibilities, incident prevention, hazard recognition, and regulatory compliance. Support leadership teams during incident investigations by identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and verifying implementation of improvements. Facilitate leadership participation in safety observations, Safety Management by Walking Around (SMBWA) activities, and site safety committee meetings. Serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership on EHS matters while promoting alignment with ASM policies, customer requirements, and industry best practices. Safety Program Implementation Implement ASM EHS policies, standards, programs, and initiatives at assigned sites and customer locations. Support deployment of corporate and regional safety initiatives. Assist local management in maintaining compliance with ASM EHS requirements and customer safety expectations. Promote safe work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in implementation of safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and risk reduction programs. Regulatory and Customer Compliance Maintain awareness of applicable regulatory requirements and customer EHS standards. Assist employees and managers in understanding and complying with ASM and customer safety requirements. Participate in customer safety meetings, audits, and assessments. Support compliance inspections and corrective action programs. Assist with maintaining site compliance documentation and records. Field Safety Leadership Conduct regular field observations, safety walks, inspections, and behavioral safety engagements. Coach employees and contractors on hazard recognition and safe work practices. Act as a visible safety resource in customer facilities and ASM workplaces. Support Safety Management by Walking Around (SMBWA) activities and safety observation programs. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to minimize operational risk. Incident Management Support reporting, investigation, and documentation of incidents, near misses, and occupational health concerns. Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action development. Track corrective actions to closure and verify effectiveness. Support lessons learned communications and sharing across service teams. Training and Awareness Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and EHS communications. Support onboarding and qualification activities for Field Service Engineers. Maintain training records and verify completion of required safety training. Reinforce safety requirements through routine engagement with employees and managers. Emergency Preparedness Support maintenance of local emergency response plans. Participate in emergency drills and preparedness exercises. Coordinate with customer emergency response personnel and local management as needed. Metrics, Audits, and Continuous Improvement Collect and analyze EHS performance data. Support internal audits, customer assessments, and compliance reviews. Monitor corrective action completion and audit findings. Assist with identifying trends and opportunities to improve safety performance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices. Understanding of hazard recognition, risk assessment, and incident investigation methodologies. Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, equipment servicing, cleanroom environments, and customer facilities. Experience with chemical, gas, industrial hygiene, ergonomic, and electrical safety hazards preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and follow-up capabilities. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to influence safe behaviors through collaboration and engagement. Ability to work independently while supporting broader organizational objectives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS data management tools. Travel Ability to travel between ASM facilities and customer facilities Other travel 10-25% Physical Demands The employee must be able to work within office, warehouse, laboratory, manufacturing, cleanroom, and customer environments. Responsibilities include: Standing and walking for extended periods. Accessing semiconductor fabrication facilities and working around semiconductor equipment. Working around hazardous gases, chemicals, process equipment, and supporting facility infrastructure. Wearing required personal protective equipment. Work Environment The work environment includes ASM offices, customer semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, warehouses, laboratories, and other operational environments where service personnel work. Compliance with customer and ASM EHS requirements is required at all times.
