Experienced Diesel tractor Tech (Volvo a+)

Position Overview As a Fleet Maintenance Tractor Technician, A Level, you will be responsible for performing core elements of fleet maintenance primarily with Tractor assets, but will include exposure to other fleet assets within the operations. You will perform and troubleshoot preventative maintenance and repairs, effectively complete work orders, and support shop projects to optimize asset uptime and productivity while working safely and embodying the safety culture and atmosphere. Job Description Pay rate depending on experience: $28–36/hr. Schedule: Sun–Thurs 11pm–7:30am. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance including asset inspection and item-level tasks with oversight. Complete small repairs, post PM inspection, and ensure successful inspection post‑PM completion for completeness and within parameters. Participate in FHWA activities with shadowing of experienced technicians. Support other technicians to garner skills and expertise. Conduct ongoing cycle of reading, classroom learning, observing expert repairs, and demonstrating proficiency in each critical learning by system. Work closely with a tenured technician to learn the technical aspects of the job. Read, study, and test modules or chapters of technical materials and successfully certify at test level. Complete ongoing manufacturer training/certification. Support shop projects and related tasks to optimize asset uptime and productivity. Complete work orders with thoroughness and detailed history to demonstrate complaint, cause, and correction. Shift: 3rd Shift (United States of America). Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 5–7 years of mechanical experience and understanding of internal combustion engines. Ability to read and interpret fuel injection/combustion systems, and other heavy‑duty equipment. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems, commercial truck components, driver D.O.T. regulations, and Transman and VMRS. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, squat, twist, and stand for 8 hours consecutively. Base understanding of mechanical principles and aptitude to complete repairs on heavy‑duty equipment with moderate instruction. Preferred: CDL. Previous work experience in fleet maintenance is strongly recommended. Work Environment Freezer Warehouse: –20°F to 0°F. Perishable Warehouse: 28°F to 60°F. Grocery Warehouse: 50°F to 90°F.
