Responsibilities

• Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and safety protocols.
• Verify patient demographic information and match labels to specimens, ensuring accurate documentation and identification.
• Explain procedures to patients to create a trusting environment and address any questions or concerns.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of collection activities in compliance with policies.
• Operate in multiple clinical settings as needed, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy locations.
• Ensure a safe, professional, and clean environment, adhering to health and safety policies.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to confidentiality requirements throughout daily activities.
• Travel between various locations as required, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, to meet staffing needs.

Required Skills

• Accuracy and efficiency in performing phlebotomy procedures across a variety of patient populations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills for explaining procedures and providing excellent customer service.
• Proficiency in data entry and record keeping related to specimen collection.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington states.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Experience working in a patient service center environment is highly preferred.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, across multiple locations.
• Knowledge of customer service best practices and ability to handle high-volume settings with professionalism.
