Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Description

Buck Town Contractors & Co. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Kenner, LA. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to assist with excavation, earthmoving, grading, and material handling on local job sites. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of hands-on experience, a strong commitment to worksite safety, and the ability to operate equipment with precision and efficiency. Pay is competitive and will depend on your experience and will be discussed during the interview.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, graders, and trenchers.
Site Preparation: Perform tasks related to earthmoving, grading, leveling, digging, and clearing land according to project blueprints and specifications.
Maintenance & Inspection: Conduct daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks (fluid levels, greasing, tracks/tires) to ensure equipment is safe and fully operational.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety regulations to maintain an accident-free environment.
Team Collaboration: Coordinate with site supervisors, laborers, and ground crews using hand signals or radio communication to ensure seamless workflow.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: 2–3 years of experience operating heavy equipment is preferred.
License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (reliable transportation to job sites around Kenner and the surrounding areas is required).
Skills: * Strong spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and blueprints.
- Solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems for basic troubleshooting.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in outdoor Louisiana weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and sit/operate equipment for extended periods.
