Lead Bartender

We are currently looking for an engaging and friendly Lead Bartender (Full-Time) to join our The Station Bar & Bites team at Element Harrison – Newark Hotel. The Station Bar & Bites features classic pub-style cuisine along with craft beers and mixologist-created cocktails. Bartender will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of the bar, all of the beverages in the hotel including cocktails, preparation of the cocktail and drink list, beverage cost tracking, cleaning, maintaining the correct stock levels as well as assisting with the prevention of vermin and fruit flies. The Bartender has to take ownership and “own the bar”. This includes taking responsibility of the bar and sharing knowledge with the team, in order to be able to work alongside another colleagues when need be. Rate $ 16.92 hour Responsibilities Clean the bar top with hot soapy water and polish with a dry cloth, wiping away any dust. Review glass washing machine for debris, drain the water and clean filter. Clean and polish till screen clean. Change fresh juices, restock boxed juices and replenish all purée’s. Prepare sufficient mise en place for entire evening. Confirm that there are sufficient glass cloths (red stripes) for service (old napkins). Review black trays and confirm that they are clean (not sticky) – if not, clean them. Make sure the bar is fully stocked with all clean glasses needed. Stock up the bar fridge and spirits. Place cocktail menus on the bar, ensure that there are enough cocktail lists for evening, and report to manager if not. Review in-house guest list at the start of the shift. File incident reports when necessary. Open & Close Bar to include cleaning, running of financial reports and physical unloading & stocking. Purchasing of liquor, beer & wines from appropriate vendors on a weekly basis. Storage of all products on a daily basis including the restocking of both Bar & Restaurant. Completing monthly beverage inventories. Communicating with Management on any special repairs or purchasing of miscellaneous service equipment. Communicating with Lead Cook on all necessary food & paper supplies twice a week or as needed. Responsible for training, communicating and leading entire bartending staff and acting as a liaison with management. Work with Lead Cook & Management in creation of daily cocktail & food specials. Ensure that all liquor laws are followed and closely monitor the consumption of liquor by all guests and make appropriate judgment calls of suspending service to intoxicated guests. Requirements/Skills Minimum of 2 years of Bartending experience. Knowledge and ability to produce accurately and timely cocktails. Strong verbal and written English skills, with Spanish a plus. Teamwork and customer service oriented. Refined verbal communication skills. Warm, friendly personality. Maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population. Have knowledge and skills of generally accepted bartending principles, hotel policies and procedures. Be able to lift approximately 30 lbs of supplies, utensils/glassware, etc when needed. Punctuality TIPS Training ABC License US Work Authorization is required.
