Welder

Stick welder candidates for the Belleville Plant. We There are 3 openings, and the main requirement of potential welding candidates is to have at least one year of recent stick/arc/smaw welding experience. Starting pay is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour, temp to full-time, day shift only.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Stick Welder to join our team at a busy scrap steel yard in Belleville, MI. This position involves performing welding and repair work on heavy equipment, scrap containers, and structural steel in an outdoor, industrial environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in physically demanding conditions.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform stick welding (SMAW) on scrap containers, heavy equipment, and structural steel
• Repair cracks, worn components, and damaged metal surfaces
• Cut and prepare metal using torches, grinders, and other tools
• Inspect equipment and materials to identify needed repairs
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
• Work effectively in outdoor conditions, including varying weather
• Collaborate with yard personnel to prioritize repair needs

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with stick welding (SMAW) required
• Ability to weld in multiple positions (flat, vertical, overhead)
• Experience working with heavy steel and industrial equipment preferred
• Ability to read and understand basic welding symbols and instructions
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
• Comfortable working in outdoor and noisy environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a scrap yard, construction, or heavy equipment repair
• Basic mechanical skills
